Welcome to Jay’s Journal. As someone who has been involved in the movement to end Alzheimer’s for 4 years, I know how important it is for people to learn more about the disease and how it impacts the lives of patients and their loved ones. Now, I am one of those people who has been diagnosed with this terrible disease, and my fight is just beginning. Working with UsAgainstAlzheimer’s and Voices of Alzheimer’s, I am taking you with me to better understand a day in the life of someone living with Alzheimer’s. From the waiting room to my living room, I will take you along with me as I provide brief periodic video updates of my journey. I hope you will come back to this page often and encourage others to follow along as well as we work together to make Alzheimer’s a thing of the past.
About Jay
Jay Reinstein is an outspoken advocate for those diagnosed with Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s. Reinstein spent 25 years in local government, most recently serving as the Assistant City Manager in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He also worked for the City of Durham for 20 years serving in several roles including Assistant to the City Manager and Strategic Planning Manager. Jay currently serves on the Board and is a dedicated member of Voices of Alzheimer’s, a newly formed advocacy organization committed to empowering people living with or at risk of Alzheimer’s and driving equitable access to treatments. For the Alzheimer’s Association, Jay was a member of the National Early Stage Advisory Group and served on the National Board of Directors in Chicago. Jay has appeared in articles with the NY Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Politico, The Economist, Chicago Tribune, Bloomberg News, Parade Magazine, to name a few.
