Washington, DC (November 7, 2023) — Today, UsAgainstAlzheimer’s celebrated the confirmation of Dr. Monica M. Bertagnolli as the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). George Vradenburg, chair and co-founder of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, expressed his congratulations to Dr. Monica Bertagnolli on her confirmation:
“Dr. Bertagnolli is exceptionally well-suited to lead the world’s premier medical research agency. With the great advances being made in the Alzheimer’s field, we look forward to continuing to support the important work of NIA and the NIH. Dr. Monica M. Bertagnolli’s confirmation as the Director of the NIH is noteworthy as she becomes only the second woman in history to be confirmed for this important position. This milestone is especially significant given the fact that women make up two-thirds of Alzheimer’s cases, a pressing issue that requires focused attention and research. As we confront the Alzheimer’s epidemic, her leadership will undoubtedly prove invaluable in accelerating progress toward understanding, preventing, and ultimately curing this disease. UsAgainstAlzheimer’s looks forward to working closely with Dr. Bertagnolli and the NIH to continue to push for the advancement of Alzheimer’s research to improve the lives of millions of Americans living with the disease.”
